"His Name Is Jesus"
Jake Fabry
Jesus.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phil 2:9-10
Have you ever been in a situation where the weight of a name helped you?
I remember being little and my older brothers would come after me. When I couldn’t take it any more all I had to do was yell at the top of my lungs, “DAD!!!” Almost instantly the struggle would stop. The name “dad” held a power like none other. It had the power to stop my brothers from torturing me or else they were going to face our dad.
The use of a name can bring strength, defense, power, or hope when used in the right circumstance.
In Scripture there is a name more powerful than any human name. Jesus. At the name of Jesus the dead were brought to life, demons were cast out of people, the sick were healed, people were knocked off their feet, and fears were replaced with peace. Some of my favorite references in scripture refer to the name Jesus as Emmanuel-God with us, Prince of Peace, Healer, Redeemer and Intercessor. The very name of Jesus holds so much meaning and power.
We as Christians, who have put our faith and hope in the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross, have claimed this name as our Hope, our Strong Tower, and our Deliverer. We carry the name of Jesus, and all that it encompasses, as a banner over us.
Imagine if we lived everyday with the name of Jesus at the forefront of our minds, lips and hearts. What if we consistently released the weight and power of His name into this world? Speak Jesus over every struggle, every anxiety, every fear. By praising the name of Jesus in every trial, victory, every joy and sorrow magnifies Him. If we really believe that the name of Jesus brings life, hope and light to the darkness then why do many of us live most days as if we aren’t filled with this same power?
This is the same power that raises the dead to life, heals the sick, and gives hope to those who feel hopeless.
..and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isa 9:6
Jesus.
His Name is alive, forever lifted high,
